Within Ourselves
03:40
|
|||
If you’re afraid,
I’m here to tell you
that it takes time,
so please be kind.
But when it comes,
you’ll feel a burning
inside your chest;
just let it out.
One of these days,
we will find
within ourselves
a galaxy
of compassion
we never knew.
If you’re alone,
I’m here to tell you
I always knew you.
You’ve always been.
But when you find
you feel it turning,
look back inside,
and know yourself.
Out of the blue,
we will find
within ourselves
a universe
of understanding
beyond belief.

Never Ending
03:23
|
|||
If you feel apart,
just know that
you are
all that you need.
Cling to yourself.
Pound your bones;
they are strong
beneath soft skin.
But if you want me,
I am always near.
Fall into my arms,
and we can escape.
If you feel unknown,
turn inside, and feel
the warmth
of precious memories
flowing in your chest,
filling you up
to make you whole
and never-ending.

People Watching
02:58
|
|||
I sat in the driver’s seat,
gazing at the common people
doing common people things.
I couldn’t hear their conversations;
I made them all up in my head,
so I could laugh at them.
I wondered what they did
with their free time, and
I worried myself with their happiness.
I didn’t mind that no one noticed.
I felt warm and alone
and the smile on my face.
I had on my big black glasses;
they make me invisible
and protect me from my shame.
In the oversized polarized lenses,
I don’t mind the glare from the sun
or the looks from anyone.
All I can see are rainbows
yawning across the blue sky
and fluffy wisps of clouds.
I breathed a sigh of resignation.
I put the car in drive, turned the wheel,
and I never looked back.

Universe Inside
05:25
|
|||
When all seems lost
and you can’t find
your way back,
it’s all inside:
your heart’s the guide,
the compass — strong
and determined
[and] forged in gold.
We will find
a home outside
of space and time:
a place we know
that’s always there.
We’ll be there soon.
When things seem bleak
and existential
dread is
too much to bear,
surround yourself
with your loves
and laugh
until it doesn’t hurt.
We will find
a home outside
of space and time:
a place we know
that’s always there.
We’ll be there soon.
But until then,
don’t be scared
for the future.
It all works out.
If all seems lost,
just turn inside
to find
you’re all you need.
